Europeday: #Amplify in Action

Date: 09/05/2022

On 9 May, Europe Day 2022, the project, Amplify: Make the Future of Europe Yours will conclude with a final event dedicated to taking action to make the voices of artists, cultural workers, activists and community leaders heard by decision-makers across Europe. Over the last year, Amplify has worked within 12 European countries in order to bring ideas, proposals, recommendations, and concerns about the vision of culture for the (Conference on the) Future of Europe, which will hold its last meeting on that day.

H401 in Amsterdam is the Amplify co-ordinator in The Netherlands. They have invited Creative Court in the Hague and Het Geluid Maastricht together with The Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and iArts Maastricht and supported by Dutch Culture, LKCA and Cultuurmakers to give shape to the process in The Netherlands. Amplify in NL advocates for the language of the arts to be heard, as it can give voice to those that can be otherwise overlooked. In The Netherlands nine art students have engaged with underrepresented voices and developed artworks that want to create awareness of a problem and speak to policy makers about necessary changes.

The event, “Amplify in Action,” will gather all Hubs from 12 countries to strategise and execute a live, guerilla-style social media campaign, amplifying their calls to action to policymakers, cultural leaders and EU institutions. Throughout the day, Culture Action Europe will host live sessions, such as artists’ talks, moderated dialogue between Amplify participants and EU decision-makers, and host a digital art exhibition featuring artistic interventions resulting from the Amplify process.
